The Oasis of the Heart by Sister Amina Anne
Poetry
Stay, or take me with You
The blue-green waters have risen in my heart
Again and again
Shaking and washing it
Leaving it breathless and longing for more
As the beads hum
In "the bright morning hours"
Now
I can feel Your presence slipping away
Dawn is coming and the night is slipping away
I long for the stillness to continue
That we may stay together
You promised if I walked to You, You would run to me
I'm the one running now
don't go
Stop the dawn that we may have a few more moments together
Your fingers plucking the strings of my heart
Vibrating my being
Making me tremble in bliss
There is no way I can contain the ecstacy
Now I understand "the cost is your life"
Not a quick extinction, but a loss of everything that used to be dear
Replaced with something better
For "what we have been given is better than what you have been given"
But the sun continues to rise and the dhikr is almost complete
How can this end?!
Don't let me go away from You!
Stay, or take me with You. . . .
